Summer is a physician assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Summer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with a focus in pre-medical studies from The University of Florida. She went on to complete her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies also from The University of Florida.

During her time at UF, Summer was a division 1 scholarship student-athlete in the sport of swimming. She was named team captain for the UF Swim and Dive team and was voted President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

During her time in the UF Physician Assistant Program, Summer was the Community Service chair in which she organized and directed all service events for her class as well as partnered with the college of medicine students for the medical mission trips. During her academic year, Summer traveled to Yucatán to provide medical assistance to the underserved population. During her clinical year, Summer was awarded the UF College of Medicine Distinguished Service Award for her exceptional service to the local community.
